Configuration sync is opt-in. It can move a bounded set of supported settings and reviewed intent between signed-in devices. It is independent of clipboard history and is not end-to-end encrypted; the service can read synchronized configuration.

What can sync

  • Supported profile preferences, including theme, language, default output format, and selected search preferences
  • Renderer preferences
  • Reviewed extension enablement intent and approved portable boolean or numeric settings
  • Portable app shortcuts

What stays local

Clipboard content, notes, tags, files, archives, credentials, permission grants, provider endpoints and models, capture settings, diagnostics, indexes, jobs, and derived data do not sync.
Signing out pauses sync and preserves local data. Extension restoration still uses the signed registry and requires fresh local capability consent.

First connection

When the cloud profile is empty, ClipsX can initialize it from the device. When cloud settings already exist, Use cloud settings is the default. Replacing the cloud profile with the current device requires explicit confirmation.
